Why sapple

Real fruit. Real energy.

01

Doesn't sit in your stomach

Even at 5 gels per hour or together with a carb drink, no athlete in our test had stomach issues.

02

Tastes like apple

A touch of acidity balances the sweetness. No chemical aftertaste, not even after the fourth gel.

03

Full energy density, still liquid

56 g of carbohydrates per 100 g like a race gel, but without gelling agents.

04

From Terlan

Apples from South Tyrol, produced in Lana. A short way from the tree to the gel.

Compared

Until now you had to choose.

Thin gels go down easily but deliver few carbs. Dense gels deliver plenty but are sticky and need water. sapple has the energy density of a race gel and still stays liquid.

sapple compared to other energy gelsScatter chart. Thin gels have about 37 g of carbohydrates per 100 g and are easy to swallow. How to use

When and how.

Rule of thumb

50 to 75 g of carbohydrates per hour, so 2 to 3 gels, from 60 minutes of effort.

Trail running

First gel after 45 minutes, then one every 30 minutes. With water from your soft flask.

5 to 6

Gels for 3 h

Honest answers

But …

Apple on race day? What about fibre?

0.1 g per gel. Freeze concentration removes the fibre, what remains is the apple's sugar.

25 g is not enough for me.

For 50 to 75 g per hour, take 2 to 3 gels. One gel delivers 25 g.

Why not my current gel?

Because we don't make you compromise: energy density like a race gel, tolerance like real food.

€3.29 per gel is expensive.

In the bulk box you pay from €2.82. For that you get over 80% apple from Terlan instead of syrup, made in South Tyrol. Shipping to Italy and all EU delivery countries is free from the 30-pack. And to try it, the trial pack comes with our tolerance guarantee: if the gel doesn't agree with you, you get your money back.

How reviews are collected: anyone who has tried sapple can leave a review, including after buying it in a shop. Reviews linked to an order in our online shop carry the “Verified purchase” badge, the others are not checked for a purchase. About 14 days after an order we ask for a review by email. Before publishing we only check for abuse and insults, never the star rating, and we do not edit anything. Voices from our athlete programme are marked as tests and count towards the average rating with the stars the athletes gave. Nobody is paid for reviews.

Product information

sapple Power is a premium energy gel made from over 80% South Tyrolean apple.

Three of the four sugars, fructose, glucose and sucrose, come straight from the apple. A little maltodextrin balances the ratio so there is not too much fructose.

Glucose and fructose come in a 1:0.8 ratio. One gel delivers 25 g of carbohydrates, liquid and without gelling agents.

What is inside?

Over 80% apple and 25 g of carbohydrates per serving (45 g). The gel is liquid, without gelling agents, and in our test it did not sit in any athlete's stomach, even at 5 gels per hour.

Ingredients

Concentrated apple juice (69%), concentrated apple powder (30%; apple juice concentrate, maltodextrin), salt, preservative: potassium sorbate.
